April 26 2018 8PM Lecture Event at Air & Space Museum [Downtown]

These lecture series have been very interesting. This one is a chance to meet the King and Queen of Speed….the married makers of the most successful plane in air racing history! Jon and Patricia Sharp.

Thursday, April 26 at 8:00PM. The event is free but tickets are required as the IMAX theater has only a certain number of seats.

Before, we’ve made an event out of this by meeting for dinner downtown. There’s a nice Italian Family style restaurant within walking distance. A BBQ place is also nearby. 49-1/2s also invited.

RSVP to Sue if you are interested so we can get a count. Everyone is responsible for getting their OWN tickets! https://airandspace.si.edu/events/meet-king-and-queen-speed-0

WE ARE PLANNING to SUPPORT THE PENTAGON CITY STORE. If you are interested in helping for this event, please RSVP to Sue.

Microsoft has reached out to The Ninety-Nines to collaborate on a project in coordination with International Women’s Month in March. They will be launching a series of free career based coding classes for young girls to expose them to various careers. One of the careers they want to expose young girls to is a career in aviation. Young girls throughout the US and Canada will come into the Microsoft Stores for a free class where they will work with a flight simulator. To enhance the experience and expose more young girls in the community to the field of aviation, Microsoft is inviting women who work in the field of aviation to speak to the girls for a few minutes about their career, why they chose it, what’s amazing about it, and what preparation girls should take to head in to that career. This is a great opportunity for exposure for The Ninety-Nines and a chance to connect with the community.

Here a few details:

  • The events will happen across the US and Canada in 75+ Microsoft Locations
  • All events are completely free
  • Microsoft will provide the devices, software, teachers, and curriculum
  • All classes will take place in the month of March for International Women’s Month
